California bill could compromise iPhone security

California Assembly Member Jim Cooper (D-9th) introduced Assembly Bill 1681 (AB 1681) on January 20, 2016. The bill would require that any smartphone manufactured on or after January 1, 2017, and sold in California after January 1, 2017, be able to be decrypted and unlocked by its manufacturer or OS provider.
